Valerie tried not to scream in protest at the idea.
The sky wasn't happy with them today, and it made its displeasure known by
raining all over the fucking place and generally making things inconvenient for them.
Running through the rain wasn't exactly a bad idea, but it involved muddy puddles and wet sports shoes and Valerie was none too thrilled about it.
Nevertheless she put her hood up and gave Joan her only umbrella.
There were only about 2 to 3 umbrellas within their group of 7 and trying to squeeze 3 teenagers under a tiny umbrella bordered on impossible.
"Hey people, can we like, go?" Carson clapped his hands and braced himself to run through the heavy rain. Joan just opened her umbrella and stood out in the rain.
Without waiting for an answer, Carson set off ahead before running back. Denise, however, was more gutsy and she stayed in the rain longer.
Valerie just sprinted and realised that her hood offered absolutely no protection whatsoever.
"Joan! Joan! Hang on, lemme get under the umbrella!"
Joan obliged and the two girls immediately began the mad race.
Having made it far enough, just out of the sports complex, the other 5 people joined them. Behind a sufficiently-wet Carson, Valerie could spot Denise and Suhui and that was just about what she could see in the monster of a rainy day.
Carson caught up with them and happily stomped into puddles, sending muddy water
flying through the air and on Valerie's shoes.
"Sunuvabetch!" The short girl shrieked and ran out from under the umbrella's protection to splash water back, or to kick Carson in the family jewels; she wasn't sure.
Carson obviously didn't take it too well and his response was to catch up with Joan and Valerie and splash even more water on their shoes.
The two girls just screamed more obscenities and brisk-walked to the MRT station. Halfway, Valerie got sick of huddling under the umbrella and ran ahead, unfortunately splashing in puddles all the way.
Once she had reached the station, Suhui joined her. The short girl just placed a steadying hand on Suhui's arm as she
wrung her socks dry with the other hand.
"Eww."
"I can't help it. I don't like wet socks."
The rest of the group reached and bitched some more about the rain and their wet shoes and wet everything.
Drenched, tired, sweaty and somewhat exhilarated, the 7 members of 6E decided to take the train to Jurong Point and that although running through the rain was fun, they will never do it again.
"If all of us fall sick tomorrow, let's plan another outing."

The next day, Valerie woke up with a throbbing headache and a very bad cold.
